Artists and composers have been inspired for centuries by the ancient Greek legend of Orpheus, who loved Eurydice so much that he followed her to the realm of the dead to bring her back. Pulitzer Prize finalist and MacArthur Fellowship winner Sarah Ruhl tells the story this time from Eurydice’s point of view.
This contemporary twist on a timeless tale is a witty, poignant and whimsical meditation on husbands and wives, fathers and daughters, love and loss and the ephemeral mists of memory.
Eurydice will be followed by William Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night, Dec. 1-5.
